Two-Point Problem Help

This calculator allows you to solve problems involving two points on the coordinate plane. To use the Two-Point Calculator you must have two points in the form of (X,Y). Once you enter both sets of points WebCalc.net will give you the slope of the line, distance between the points, standard equation, Y-intercept, and the mid point of the line created by the two points.

This calculator calculates five equations at one time:

  1. Slope
  2. Distance
  3. Equation
  4. Y-Intercept
  5. Mid-Point
Slope is the rise over then run. It is solved by the formula:
Slope = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

It is important to remember that a horizontal line has a slope of zero (0), while a vertical line has an undefined slope. A vertical line may also be refereed to as having no slope.

Distance

The equation shown is the standard equation for the line created by from the entered points.

Y-Intercept is the point at which the line formed by entered data points crosses the Y access, the point at which Y equals zero.

The mid-point is the center of the line between the entered data points; the result is a set of coordinates that would show the location of the point.
